We dyed Easter Eggs today. This is Cooper using the crayon to draw a design; he is concentrating very hard ;)

My Mom took the boys to Toys''R''Us to pick out a toy. They ended up each getting a BIONICLE, Cooper the red one and Caden the blue one. Later, I decided to try using them as a subject for a light painting long exposure shot. I also used a flash to illuminate the BIONICLE figures.

The light painting was done with a Tikka Plus headlamp.

Taken for Assignment52 week 13 - Light Painting

My Mom arrived today for a visit to meet Luke and spend Easter with our family. I took the boys to pick her up at the airport and later in the day we went on a bike ride and stopped by a local school and played on the playground.

The boys both attempted to climb this baseball field backstop. It was interesting to watch them scurry up a 4-5 feet and then stop as they realized how high up they were getting. Climbing up is always the easy part...getting down...not quite as easy ;)

This wasn't the shot I had in mind when I setup the lighting and camera. I was going to try and get a shot of him sleeping in my hand so I had Shannon assist with taking the pictures. He wasn't sleepy and since I'm always behind the camera, I decided to post this one of us together.

Luke had his first bath today. He was so relaxed by it that he fell asleep :D

I'll return to work on April 7th, but until then, I've been enjoying my time with the family. Shannon mostly takes care of Luke 24x7 and I'm responsible for Cooper, Caden and the house. As such, my days pretty much consist of bike rides and visits to parks in order to keep the boys busy.

We rode to a nearby park to play for a bit; it was really windy and cold! I captured this shot of Caden and had to laugh at how much it reminded me of an action scene you'd see in a movie.

I took the boys out for a hike today on a trail in Rocklin up near the Fire Station. Since the side of town we live on is barren, it's always nice to visit places surrounded by mature trees and the sounds of nature.

I loved watching them explore the trail and climb this fallen tree. Caden wasn't too sure about climbing it, but Cooper scampered right up as far as he could go. When it was time to come back down he kind of froze, but not before I could get this sweet smile :D

Finally tried out my new Westcott 28" Softbox tonight. It is a lot larger than I expected, but I like the nice soft, directed light it produces.

What better subject to try it out on too :D

I think I've always had this shot in my mind since I saw Ed's Nothing But Net photo from just about a year ago. While nowhere near as great as Ed's photo, I really like the sun flare I was able to capture.

I used the built-in flash to help illuminate the subject. I also rotated the image 180 degrees because it just didn't feel right to have the flare coming from the bottom left.

After taking a bunch of photos yesterday, apparently I only took two today. So, here's another photo of Luke. Good thing he's easy on the eyes ;)
