Squirrel

Squirrel

99/365 | April 9, 2010

When I left work today, I found this squirrel eating from a pile of corn and sunflower seeds that someone had put in the lawn. I took pictures with both the 150mm and 35mm and was amazed at how close he let me get. With the 35mm, I was able to get about 6" from him.

When I was in high school, my family was part of a wildlife rehabilitation group up in Butte County. Out of all the different types of animals we helped, squirrels were one of my favorite. We would get them when they were very small and raise them and eventually release them. I'll never forget all of those wonderful experiences.

I figured Luke needed some "air" time, so I put down a plastic bag with a towel over it and let him hang out for a while.

He is such a mellow baby, he hardly cries at all. He does grunt a lot though...so much so that we've decided to nickname him Grunt.

Three Weeks

Three Weeks

97/365 | April 7, 2010

What a day - I returned to work and Shannon had her first day alone with the boys. Luckily Cooper and Caden had preschool, so at least they were occupied for a few hours.

I barely made it through the day awake and Shannon was on empty when I returned home. It will take time to get back into a routine, but I'm sure everything will be fine...right? ;)

My Three Sons

My Three Sons

Shannon had this idea to "stack" the boys up for a picture. Cooper *really* didn't want to be on the bottom, but he had no problem smashing Caden ;) None of them really turned out how I was hoping, but I just had to post one.

My Mom flew back to Colorado today and I go back tomorrow. Shannon is going to go from having 2 helpers to none :( Should be interesting...

We don't let our kids play video games very often, so when we do, they are really into them! Here, Cooper is playing the Lego Star Wars game.

Light Warriors

My Mom took the boys to Toys''R''Us to pick out a toy. They ended up each getting a BIONICLE, Cooper the red one and Caden the blue one. Later, I decided to try using them as a subject for a light painting long exposure shot. I also used a flash to illuminate the BIONICLE figures.

The light painting was done with a Tikka Plus headlamp.

“You must do the thing you think you cannot do”

Quote by Eleanor Roosevelt

My Mom arrived today for a visit to meet Luke and spend Easter with our family. I took the boys to pick her up at the airport and later in the day we went on a bike ride and stopped by a local school and played on the playground.

The boys both attempted to climb this baseball field backstop. It was interesting to watch them scurry up a 4-5 feet and then stop as they realized how high up they were getting. Climbing up is always the easy part...getting down...not quite as easy ;)
